Thanks Timescapes for all the info on timelapse and astrotimelapse. Here's what we did with it.

Re: Scientific Application Of Timelapse Photography
James,
This is a great result of all your efforts. Genuinely new scientific knowledge as the result of amateur activities. I will send a link to the video to the Cape Conservation Group who monitor turtle nesting along the shore at the North end of the Ningaloo Reef close to Exmouth here in Western Australia.
Congratulations on these results.

Great stuff. I remember the first time I showed some time-lapse footage of Polar Stratospheric Clouds to a scientist who was studying them back in 2003, he was quite excited to see how they moved almost like a layer of oil on water.

Re: Scientific Application Of Timelapse Photography
That's great sciencelookers. One of my time lapse footage of unusual aurora was used in research by British Astronomical Association over one year ago and few days ago I have recorded on my few time lapses rare display of aurora and noctilucent clouds at the same time. British Astronomical Association asked me again if I can supply them with this footage for research as there is a theory that auroras can heat up the mesosphere preventing formation of noctilucent clouds. I am still processing this footage and I probably will send it to them on Monday.
