Yes, all those parts work fine together.

Best Regards

Check this battery out that provies 6 times the battery life that a normal cannon battery does:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GC ... C6HOH9AVE6

You need this cord also to charge it:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00595 ... C6HOH9AVE6

Here is a little review on the battery: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ualDR0Vy ... grec_index

Cheers!

Looks like a pretty nice unit.
A comparable DIY version would be a fraction of the price, but would miss out on the nice mounting options etc...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... K:MEWNX:IT
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 361wt_1139
http://www.ebay.com/itm/9800mAh-12V-DC- ... 20bc2d6351

These parts plus a couple of extra connectors etc and you are only looking at around $70 all up.

I like the $70 option!

Can you link me to what kind of connectors are needed by chance? I am new to the power world and cant visualize how it all functions without all the parts.

Thanks for your time!

In "Theory" with the above links you should be able to basically cut the cable that comes with the 12v battery in half and connect it to the input and output of the voltage regulator board.
I'm not 100% sure if the battery adapter I linked to for the camera is the same size connector or not though, but it looks like it is though.
The DC barrel connectors come in different sizes, but they are cheap to buy from any electronics store.

Then you can use either the AC supply of the external 12v battery with the Camera adapter.

Ok so about 1month later I got the ebay battery in and it feels pretty solid:

I think I understand how to put it all together, but just in case is there any chance you can upload a picture of your completed unite?

Many many thanks for your help!

I'm traveling at the moment, away from most of my gear. If you can hang on for a couple of weeks I could upload something later on.

Here is what I crafted. It powers up the camera fine but does not take photos. Where did I go wrong? Image

It should be pretty straight forward to figure out with a multi-meter.
You should have 12v out of the battery and between 7.5 - 8 out of the regulàtor.

Ok cool I just ordered one. The general layout of how things are going together is correct from my photo right?

Thanks again for your help!

Has anyone used one of these blue batteries with the Jag35 LP-E6 adapter cable?

http://jag35.com/products/cables/lpe6adaptercable.html

It seems like it would replace the need to hack the battery and regulator and is reasonably priced.

Also has anyone used the 18000mAh version?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-12V-18000mAh ... 822wt_1165

Thanks

Yep I ended up getting that jag adapter after I was unsuccessful in getting the ebay hack to work. The cable and blue battery does work, however if you are on the 5dii the jag cable has a pretty bad design on the battery end. It does not fold though the battery much so you end up pinching the cable in the door. I might try and just cut into the battery attachment to hide the cable in there so I don't end up cutting it so much its unusable. Pretty much a bummer considering how expensive that cable is. I have also had a bit of troubles with one of my two blue battery's, sometimes it seems to just not work. Will update more after more testing, however I am leaning toward just shelling out the cash for the jag battery.

Thanks for that confirmation. The jag battery seem really great and I have read good reviews, but the price compared to the blue battery... ouch.

Post Re: 5D Mark II + Canon BP-970
I just found out that I messed up the jag cord connection to the camera by pinching the cable in the camera door to hard and/or by pulling to hard to get the stuck cord out. I replaced the connection with the cheep one I got of eBay and its back working. You have to plug the battery into the little black box with the side connection for it to work (so unless you get an extension cable the battery cant be to far from the camera). Be super careful not to tug on the connection to camera on the jag cord and take time to lace it though the cable hole with care. I am going to contact Jag with a complaint to make an acceptable connection to camera.

(edit) The blue eBay battery are hit or miss and don't seem to do very well in cold. Almost better off having a 5d mark ii grip with two canon batteries.

I am now looking into getting this: http://ditogear.com/store/accessories/1 ... -pack.html
and this: http://ditogear.com/store/accessories/4 ... 5d-7d.html

Will let you know how that goes!
