Post List of compacts with built-in Intervalometer ?
Is there a list somewhere of compact cameras that have built-in intervalometer, either in the standard firmware or via hacked firmware ?

I couldn't find one. If there isn't, let's start one. Here's mine:

Ricoh R8

- has Intervalometer in standard firmware
- Minimum interval = 5 seconds
- Limit = none (records until memory card full or battery empty)
- Max exposure length = 8 seconds
- Can be powered externally? Yes : Battery Replacer CN-4 available.

WOW !!

I was just about to give away a Canon G11 thinking I had no further use for it (since I replaced it with a Canon S100 and a Canon SX40 HS). I kept my Ricoh R8 thinking it was my only timelapse camera. Now I'll give that away instead and keep my G11 as a much better time lapse camera :)

To agour, many thanks mate for that comprehensive list of cameras you've posted, BUT I don't understand the firmware bit? Are you saying everyone of these cameras has a built in intovolater ? Or is capable of getting a intovolator with an update ? Is there a link anywhere about how to update the firmware so I can make my little used canon Ixus 40 or Ixus 850is into a functioning time lapse camera ? thanks for any advice !

Google for CHDK (Canon Hack Development Kit), it's a custom firmware which unlocks loads of features on your compact camera, much like magic lantern does on the canon eos models.
