I'll reply - unfortunately I'm not the biggest fan of such a heavy handed approach to HDR - I know there are a lot of people who love that look, either way, with or without HDR, i would work a bit on the compositions (the first one has a nice composition, but the others could be simplified/cleaned up)

Dang, really? I thought that the compositions were pretty good. I like HDR because I'm going for that gritty, dirty look. I don't want it to be all clean and normal looking. Thanks for the criticism though, I appreciate it. I'm only 20 and just got a camera a few months ago so I don't think these are a bad start.

don't get me wrong - it is a great start - don't get down, get out there and explore and experiment.

Hi Eric:

After looking at the images you posted... My first reaction was your HDR process was very much overdone. That being said, the images themselves are well composed and I liked the low approach you took to capturing them.
On the DHR front, I respect the fact that you were looking for a "dirty" look. i'm just not sure you got it with this treatment. If you want to create images with a dirty look you might want to try an PS-process called "Dragon". It will give your base images a real grunge feel without going over the top. you can find at least one tutorial here:

The above tutorial is just a starting point. so do a google search and I'm sure you will find more options.

Another option - without the grunge look for these images would be a Pencil Sketch treatment. I'm not sure if you like that type of thing, but looking at your images it would seem to me that that might be a possible option.

Thanks, Doug. I guess I'll have another go with them in photomatix and see if I can "clean" them up a bit. I just love that dark look, idk, haha. I appreciate the criticism very much.
