Hey guys,

My interest in micro-controllers etc was really sparked by this site and it's many inventors. Led me down the path of creating my own lightning trigger.

V1 was a dog however V2 is showing some real promise... taken while on holiday in Phuket.

Here's the bad boy.

That is a sweet picture and a cool device. You may have yourself a Kickstarter project :)

That looks like a pretty sweet tool. Has it any other functionality?

I am adding with Ultrasonics, IR, Sound and intervalometry... you can squeeze a lot of functionality into 32K!!!
A water drop shot, with the IR enabled...

Looks nice however it does seem a little lacking in resolution and adjust-ability...

Yes, user feedback is very important however I'm talking about sensor resolution and controller adjust-ability. Most do not offer any way of adjusting or if they do the adjustments are big rather than fine steps.

It would be great to see some shots taken with the Nero, if you have any available (e.g. Flickr?)

One lucky shot from tonight. it's almost a full frame so at 100% you can see where the lightning has traveled down then back up almost the same path.
Taken with a 100mm f2.8L macro.

Now coding for a standard interval-type timelapse with my light detector causing an interrupt to capture all the lightning strikes properly.

Can't wait for my 14mm f2.8 to arrive :D

Those are really nice and I bet the web resolution does not do them justice.

Harnessing lightning as an energy source would be amazing but perhaps unreliable...
