Hey guys, going on a camping trip and wanted to do an astro timelapse and was wondering which direction I should be pointing my camera since December is not the best time for the Milky Way here in the US (have to wait for summer for that). Any other star groupings that make for an interesting time-lapse? Thanks in advance!

You could try tracking the Big Dipper around Polaris, Orion looks great.

I realize this is an older thread so I'm answering for future readers sake, but there is a winter milky way as well. Not as bright as the summer milky way (where we look into the interior of our galaxy) but still interesting nonetheless.
