well its a bit softer than i would like that could be atmospherics but i think its the lens its probably pretty good for an old school lens on a modern dslr and it nearly as old as i am so shouldn't really complain and it was a quarter of the price of a canon 300mm lol. canon 60d with a pentax 300mm and two times converter f8 and about 200th of a second apart from sharpening and sharpening edges i haven't done anything to it. generally i like my other pentax lenses on the 60d however i find the 300 just a tad soft.

Like your images.

First attempt at night lapse with video camera, 200mm lens 1fps. The flicker is caused by cloud.

that looked pretty good mike you have inspired me i will have to give it a go. i am just looking for a spot near a beach to get the moon coming up over the
water and some trees perhaps. i have a telescope that gives amazing views of the moon. how ever i need to mod it to get to allow the camera to
focus. plan on fixing it during the holidays.

Hi, Chardie thanks for the complimentary remark, it was a quick set up, cloudy night forecast but cleared.
Not used a video set up before, used the 70-200mm zoom that was attached at the time, it gave a good field of
view as the camera was mounted on a fixed tripod. Missed last nights moon, I was travelling back from a holiday,
watched it from my car, stationary on motorway for about an hour :(

sunday night i was heading back to the gold coast for another week of work had the moon come up over the mountains
it was huge and about ten thirty at night and a nice orangy colour. ticked that the camera was at the apartment. im
going to have to find a phone app the that shows the rise and set times for the moon and get organized.
