Post Which motor fox MX2 controler ?
Hi,
i made my own slider. I bought a MX2 controler and i'm looking for a merlin head. Now i'm searching a motor. Can you tell me which motor i have to use for time lapse ?
I want to make time lapse by day and night with the milky way.
I think i need a strong motor because sometimes i will put my slider to the vertical.
I'm also interested about changing the motor's speed during the time lapse to create accelerations or decelerations (i think it's impossible to do it with the MX2 controler). It's important for me. Have you an idea of which motor can i use ?

Hi, this is the original standard motor that came with the DP stage zero / MX2,
http://www.servocity.com/html/8_75_rpm_offset_gearmotor.html
it used a 20 tooth pulley I think (spec. should be on the DP site as will the pulley or email them)

Latest motors and a quick assy system now available.
http://www.dynamicperception.com/EZ-Swap-DC-Motor-p/dp-dcm.htm

I have not used my MX2 for a couple of years now but think it will ramp up and down. Someone will
hopefully be along soon to correct me if I am wrong.

EDIT:
Quote:
Advanced Motion Capabilities
The MX2 can run all axes of motion in both continuous and interleaved (shoot-move-shoot) modes. Complete control of the output motion including ramping/feathering in the output video and delayed lead-ins are possible with the MX2.

If you are in Europe ? you will also pay Postage and Duty, so mulitply the price by 2 at least and bite your lip ;)

Your proposed motor, torque is 5kg/cm the one in the link is 47kg/cm. Will the lower torque move your rig vertically?

Test by making a lever to move your rig and add weight eg Lever 11cm long, pivot at 1cm and load with 1/2kg. If rig moves you may be ok.

How do you know that torque is 5kg/cm ? It's not written on this page http://www.ebay.fr/itm/DC-12V-15RPM-Mot ... 5668f20bd8

The DC motor used by Dynamic perception cost 140 dollards with shipping !!! I don't understand ! From China it's free, from USA it's 90 dollards !

Sorry i didn't see it
Is it a problem if i use the chinese motor ? What can happened different between the D.Perception and the chinese motor with MX2 controler and this motor ?
Speeds are differents but i don't know what are the consequences because with the MX2 i guess you can set the distance isn't it ?

They are both 12Vdc motors, current rating ? but probably ok. You will need to calibrate the MX2 for any different motor speed and/or pulley setup. The instructions for calibration are somewhere on the DP web site.
Good luck.

Yes.
1) it should be rated at 1amp or less, you need to check MX2 spec.
2) you need to be able to mount it on your system.
3) you need a suitable pulley that fits the motor shaft.
4) it should have sufficient torque for your intended loading.

Thank you but where will i put the pivot ? 1cm near the weight or 1cm near the trolley ?

I bought the chinese one with 15 RPM because it's available, but i didn't see something about amp :? : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/371127880664
I hope it could be ok with the MX2.
So, this motor is faster than the DP motor (8,75 RPM). Will i have to choose a smaller pulley (half) to have the same speed or it could be set with the mx2 controler ?
(excuse my questions but it's difficult to understand everything for beginners and i don't really understand english ;) ).

Hi, pivot 1cm from the trolley but not much point now that you have ordered the motor ;) You may have problem finding a pulley half size so use MX2 calibration to suit the motor speed.

ok i'll try. The chinese motor is 0,01 amp. I have ordered the original pulley kit for 28€, the shop is in a town near mine, great ! They also have a motor but it's too expensive (reason : shipping !).
