Post Total newbie who wants to do panning timelapses
Hi,
I am not what you might call "mechanically inclined", but I've seen many people using motorized telescope mounts to achieve very interesting time lapses and thought I might do the same.

Here are the two mounts that I've had my eye on:

http://www.adorama.com/MDDSM.html
http://www.celestron.com/c3/product.php ... ProdID=661

My questions are:
A) Will this work or am I hopelessly lost?
B) What is required to attach my Canon 7D to the telescope mount?
C) How do I use the little remote attached to the telescope mount to program a move?
D) Do you guys have tips or alternative mounts or solutions to achieving panning timelapses on a budget? I wanted to keep expenses to $300 or less.

Thanks for your help on this!
-Steve

A. yes
B. in the case of the meade dsm just a short 1/4"-20 thumb screw or bolt (that model comes with a bracket)
C. you set it to a given 'slew speed' then clamp down the button to keep it moving
D. you found the best budget solution

Thanks so much milapse!! I think I'll go with the Meade DSM and the 497 controller then. (Is that what you would recommend?) You say the meade comes with an L-bracket so I just need a screw? (A Home Depot item surely?) Thanks again for your help!

Hmm, is this an acceptable model? http://www.amazon.com/Meade-DSM-DS-Moun ... 589&sr=8-1
