I had so much fun designing this curved track time-lapse dolly that I'm currently working on a newer version that will also be able to move up and down vertical arched tracks. See the sample footage captured using the vertical arch dolly prototype at the end of this video.

Check out the full article and watch the short film shot using this dolly at http://designedandmade.com/blog/2010/08 ... pse-dolly/.

Feel free to leave any questions/comments about this project at my blog.

Thats some of the most amazing woodworking I've ever seen. I think I saw a prototype of this running along a rooftop a while back, was that it? I'd love to see a short video that shows how the track is set up.

Hard to beat a nicely crafted piece of wood.

Amazing build Brian! I would love to see more footage shot with this.

1.) I'm building a similar rig that is self-driven like yours. Did you find the rail slider you installed moves enough to warrant its integration? How much does it slide on a tight radius?

2.) In terms of curved track that is adjustable to any radius and highly transportable, I'm thinking stiff garden hose or flexible residential water tubing. Any other ideas?
