Post subject:  Lens Motors

There have been several conversations about MOCO lens motors on the site. I decided to make a place to consolidate the discussion. At least one lens motor will be available for purchase now. This will make a good place for updates and for any competitors to announce their products.

By the way, the Sciencelookers lens motors are for sale. Drop me a PM if you'd like one.

Site Administrators, is there any way this topic can become a forum in the space just above?

I found an alternative lens motor for sale at B&H. This seemed like a good place for the link if anyone is interested in a better system. The link is to the motor only, but there is a link in the motor ad for the controller, which is very impressive. Looks like that controller will run three axes simultaneously to ramp focus, zoom and aperture. Here's the link to the motor.

You'll need the vari-zoom TOC handheld controller to make it go. Its in the motor ad under essential accessories - additional system components.

Here's another link to a motor made by Arri. Really nice stuff. They have this one (CLM-3) and another one (CLM-2) on the same site. The link to the other motor is among the links at the right side of their site window.

Here's yet another lens motor.

This one from Screenplane is a rental.

This Heden motor was part of the inspiration to mount my motor vertically next to the lens, instead of horizontally alongside the camera.

Most of these places are reluctant to tell what their prices are for some unimaginable reason. Makes comparison shopping kind of difficult.

Thought I'd share this very breif demo of a Heden Lens Motor on a 5D2. Its very snappy for realtime video. Here's the link.

Here's another motor on a Canon DSLR. This one is based on an RC servo just like the JAG35 electronic follow focus motor. I like sharing links to competitor's motors because they make my motors look good. Here's the link to someone else's motor.
