Very effective. Much more pleasing on the eye than the instant start of simpler systems. I plan to introduce something similar to my mark 2 panning table when I get my new workshop up and running.

I plan to increase the gear ratio on my stepper motor to allow smooth acceleration with the simple controller I'm currently using. have you used microstepping in your design?
