How many shots at what speed?
Hey folks
So im going to spend time working on chronos this weekend. Im going to try to get the SMS working with the continuous and acceleration modes.
Honestly when testing this thing i found a speed that gives me 1/2 hour of time for end to end travel, in that i will set the camera to do about 350 shots. That gives a little over 11 seconds of video at 30fps for a normal daylight timelapse.
how many shots do you do? When writing the code out on this i want to make it flexable with the SMS shooting, so i figured i would see what you guys do.
here are the controls im thinking of doing, im keeping it down to 2 dials, and 4 buttons.
Mode dial for continuous, speed ramped, and SMS 350/SMS700 Another dial for delay
Left button, right buttin, start, and system reset (basically a power kill to stop the continuous velocity ramping cause once it goes it just goes...)
1/2 hr continuous 1 hour continuous 2hour continuous
1/2 hour speed ramped 1 hour speed ramped 2 hour speed ramped
and SMS mode setup for 350 and 700 shots, with a delay selection for 1s, 2s, 3s, 5s, 7s, 10s, 12s 15s, 20s, 30s 45s 1min 1.5min 2min, 3min 5min 8min 10min.
I want to keep things on the rail simple, that why i am going with minimal control but i want some flexability. With the optional control box controller it will be much much more flexable.

Re: How many shots at what speed?
I've found a lot of the time I'll want to get my travel time down below 10 minutes over the length of my dolly if there are fast moving clouds or people in the shot. Of course then there is the other extreme with stars etc when I want a few hours.
