Post Motion Control Camera Crane
Currently I am working on a solution to motorize my DIY Camera Crane. I just want to be able to rotate the arm very slowly to make the crane usable for timelapse shots.
If found the Mumford Stepper Table which could be a nice solution. But I don't know how a stepper motor would affect the smoothness of the rotation at the head of the crane. Irrespective of the fact that the Mumford table is out of my budget.
I am thinking about using the Milapse head and modifying it. In extreme that means to remove the vertical arm which is used for tilting and mounting the crane just at the pan element of the Head.
Does anybody have some pictures of how the Milapse head is built or any information how it looks under the plastic ? Is it massively built with ball bearing or is the whole weight at the gear wheels ?
Does anybody got dimensions of the head like diameter of the horizontal rotating element and the horizontal distance between the two axes ?

Thanks a lot whoever can help me with my unconventional project ! In attachment some pictures of my crane so far. I will provide some detail pictures of the mounting section of the Crane.

I would say the Milapse head would not be anywhere near sturdy enough for your rig, you would probably want to go for one of the cast mounts designed for heavy telescopes.
I know Orion do some pretty solid ones at a reasonable price.

I'm going to do some experimenting using a couple of small time-lapse winches I built in conjunction with my Jib system when I get some calm weather.
