Timing Belt / Pulley Vs. Omni Belt Configuration.
I just read the
http://openmoco.org/node/243 article and it was great. I'm trying to see what you guys think of 1) Timing Belt / Pulley setup Vs. 2) Omni Belt Config.
QUESTION 1:
I read in the openmoco article that the Omni Configuration has "Greater system flexibility in linear axes." vs the Timing Belt method. What does that mean exactly? Does that simply mean that I can have a longer belt?
---------------------------------
The main reason I'm leaning towards the Timing Belt / Pulley method is because it seems you can make a more compact dolly that's a bit quicker to set up since the belt can go right inside the Igus slider as opposed to on the side. Plus, this timing belt dolly seems very SIMPLE to make vs. the Omni Config., as seen in this dolly setup.

QUESTION 2:
What have your experiences been? Pro and Cons of Timing Belt / Pulley Vs. Omni Belt Configuration. Are there any gear ratio advantage with either setup?
Thanks again.
