Post MiLapse System Setup instructions
I haven't been able to find any instructions to set up the milapse system. I've just got the whole package meade 497, Head, L bracket and astrofinder software (although this is a bit useless as I'm mac based!), and I want to program the head to move over a specific angle over a specific amount of time, and if possible to repeat the move. I don't want to do anything astronomy based. There don't seem to be any basic set-up instructions on here to help get the thing working. Am I missing something or is this something that would be a good idea for someone more knowledgeable than me to post up here?

this is the best instructions available, and admittedly they are not foolproof but have you seen this?

You will need a PC with Windows operating system, and a way to connect a serial cable to the handset.

Instructions:

150d per one hour @ 8x sidereal 1.00 az ratio

100d per one hour @ 8x sidereal 1.00 az ratio

To set the sidereal speed press number (or speed button on 494)

To set the az/alt ratio go to setup/telescope/az ratio or alt ratio

My 497 workflow:

1) Press "3" key to set speed to 8x sidereal.
2) Using the fantastic iPhone app (thanks, Peppino!), calculate the Az/Alt ratios for your specific desired speed.
3) Press MODE button - see Setup menu.
4) scroll down to Setup->Telescope, press ENTER. see Telescope menu.
5) scroll down to Az/RA Ratio, press ENTER.
6) Enter Az Ratio from iPhone app, press ENTER.
7) scroll down to Alt/Dec Ratio, press ENTER.
8) Enter Alt Ratio from iPhone app, press ENTER.
9) Press MODE a couple times to get back to top menu.
10) Press and hold one or more direction arrow buttons to start it moving. Clamp the keys down with small Irwin clamp or similar.

If I happen to have my laptop with me, I'll sometimes use the Time Is Motion software - but the above workflow doesn't need a computer.
