Post subject:  Camera Crane mounting on MILapse Head ?

Hy,
currently I am searching for a elegant and favorable way to motion control my DIY Camera Crane. With the MILapse Head I could pan the crane while tilting the camera at the top of the crane.
Some questions:

1.How much weight capacity does the MILapse Head has ? My Crane with counterweights and camera mounted is about 12 kg.
2.Is it right, that the lowest rotating speed of the head is one revolution in one day ? I am asking that because I have to calculate the lever extension of the jib arm.
3.Right, that normal 3/8" tripod screws don't work to attach that head to conventional tripods ?
4.Were can I buy it for shipping to Europe(Germany) ?

Best regards

Martin

IMO: If you try to use even a well balanced 24Kg object mounted to one of these heads, you'll strip the gears and break the axles in no time... And since there doesn't seem to be a readily available parts source for these units, you'll have to buy a new one soon enough.

Please see the photos in this thread to see the answer for yourself:

Oh god no... that looks bad.
You said 24 kg... My crane is WITH counterweights and camera about 12 kg... Yet too much :?
Do you know another option or another Pan and Tilt system which is more robust ? I have seen the Kessler Revoluton has a weight capacity of 9kg (20lbs). But that's far over my budget.

Kessler is way out of my budget too.

I have not yet set myself to getting/creating a crane-rig, so I would have to defer to someone with a low budget (like us) who has already done some of the leg work.

Please let the rest of know what you find, and I'll do the same.

Good luck...

While its not MoCo, it seems possible to impliment low budget moco with it.

This has me thinking: http://lowcostfilmmaking.wordpress.com/ ... ib-for-30/

Thanks for the link ! But I already built my crane. I am just searching for a way to make it usable for timelapse shots ! I want that I can pan the jib arm and tilt the camera by motor. For something like that I need really really slow motors such as the motors in the MILapse Head. And a nice Controller too.
Here some photos of my DIY Camera Crane:

Thats look nice.

Seeiing that bucket of water, if you drill a small hole in it, you can let the camera slide down very nice and ease... (and the other way around if you let it fill by yet another bucket of water.
Not that you can do something with this information, but it was the first thing that sprang to mind when I saw it :)
