Post Which is smoother for video - dc or stepper motor?
I own an Emotimo TB3 Black and Dynamic Perception Stage Zero dolly. The former, for video, powers a 5:1 stepper motor* on its aux port. I`m finding a lot of jerkiness in the footage during a pan/dolly move. I`m not the first to notice this. See Fred`s comment half way down the page:

In your opinion would a dc motor be smoother than a stepper in continuous mode?

Or - would tweaking the pot of the aux port (clockwise) make the stepper motor smoother perhaps?

Thanks

Ian

PS I am aware that the TB3 cannot power a dc motor, but I do have an MX2 controller which I guess I could start simultaneously if it produced a smoother result.
