Post Dolly motor and controller advice
I have been working a while on building a time lapse dolly. I just finished the dolly and track. It is a somewhat modular system made from parts of old drafting tables. Now that I have the track done, I need someway to motorize it. I have a budget of about 100 dollars and need to buy a motor and controller. I am fairly unacknowledged when it comes to motors, so I dont know what to look for. Should the motor be on continuously while taking the time lapse, or should it be a step shoot step system. Currently I am using my ti84 to control the camera. If I do HDR, it has to be step shoot step, right? So, should the motor and involometer be controlled together. The dp dollyshield DYI kit looks like a possible solution, but what type of motor should I get? Finally, should I use a string and reel to pull the dolly, or should it be some sort of grated track? Once again, my budget is about 100 bucks. I know I have asked a lot of questions but if anyone has any solutions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Your servo city link is to an empty cart.

In terms of flexibility for an off the shelf solution you can't really beat the dynamic perception route.
There are quite a few links in the dollies section for motors and controllers. Main thing is to figure out your relative speeds to your drive mechanism then buy a motor to suit.
I have both a 1rpm and a 6 rpm motor for my setup.

The servocity thing was just a link to their 1rpm motor
