How do you shoot BIF (Birds in Flight)
In Tom Lowe’s film “Timescapes”, he takes slow motion video of Pelicans flying and landing over the Salton Sea in CA. As a “newbie” to video, I can’t picture the setup he used. I believe he used one of these options, what do you suggest?
1 – With the camera on a tripod track the bird by looking at the LCD monitor on the back of the camera 2 – With the camera on a tripod track the bird by looking at a large (5-7 inch) external field monitor 3 - Other
Thanks, Rich

I think he used a RED epic with an external lcd screen on a high quality tripod. I remember seeing a behind the scenes photo of that shoot.

Thanks for reply, your response makes sense to me. Going to give it a try soon. The Salton Sea isn't too far from me.

A Fluid Video Head is a must. The longer the arm the smother you can pan.
