Post Where to get great Royalty Free Music?
In addition to the free music thread, I wanted to get some ideas from you guys about royalty free music sites? Somewhere that you could pay a couple hundred bucks to get the use of really great music for film festivals and such.

What are the best sites are for RF music? I've used Sound Dogs before and had good experiences with them: http://www.sounddogs.com

I've used StackTraxx form Digital Juice. There are some good libraries there. The tracks are layered, which means if for example you don't like the drum track you can turn it off. Good deals on these: 5 sets for $80

http://www.digitaljuice.com/products/product_volumes.asp?pvid=8

Two new libraries I haven't purchased from yet, but have good stuff are:

Rpyalty Free Music Revolution:

http://www.royaltyfreemusicrevolution.com/

Radical Music Library:

http://www.radicalmusiclibrary.com/

Later,
john

I've used music from Moby. He has free music available for independent films. Not only is the price right but having his name in the credits adds a nice touch.

I just found this site today and I was so excited I immediately came running to Timescapes to share.... Arrgh, beaten to the punch. Anyway. I second this. Moby music can be perfect for Time lapse, and I love that he has specifically responded to indie film makers needs.

I also really enjoy the music of Podington Bear. It's like upbeat moby. He also grants the use of his music for any non-commercial uses:

http://podingtonbear.com/

And you can download over 200 songs through his podcast. He says on his website that licensing for commercial use is also very affordable.

Long time folks! I haven't had a chance to do many timelapses lately, but I'd be happy to make my music available to you through my new music library:

www.greenbuttonmusic.com

Mention that your a timelapse person and I'll be sure to get you a rate that's comparable to the cheaper royalty free sites. I think you'll find the quality is a bit higher at greenbuttonmusic.com ;)

I'm a Vancouver based music producer.

I absolutely LOVE the timelapse you folks are working on. How about this.

I recently produced an artist called 'Opus Zero'. The album is definitely on the psychedelic side, and I think it would go great with some of the visuals you folks are doing.

I will grant permission to anyone doing a time lapse, to any of the music from this artist, for free. I can give you the mastered audio files in 16 bit or 24 bit audiophile at no charge.

In return, I'd like permission to use some of the stuff you folks are creating with it.

You can listen to the album here to determine if it's appropriate for your visuals. If you like it, just email me at peter@opuszero.ca

http://www.opuszero.ca

Cheers - Peter

back in about '79 when I was young, my friends and I spent hours listening to Jean Michel Jarre's "Equinox" - wonderful stuff - I really haven't listen to him since then but now I will check out his current offerings - goes to show how an open attitude increases sales - I may even buy a CD to use in a timelapse - thanks for that Antz

And ofcourse:
http://remix.nin.com

Nine Inch Nails published a large collection of music in a multitrack-format (e.g. for garageband) under CC-license. remix.nin.com is a community of people who remix and publish this music on the platform.

Create an account to make songs downloadable and use them under the CC-license!

I am also a fan of Jean Michael Jarre. Thanks very much for generously offering to let us use your music. I give credit for all music I use and would be proud to have such wonderful music associated with my video. Thanks also to Antz for posting the offer. This is really great.

I am an indie film composer and am willing to score projects for free (I only ask for a name in the credit to self-promote).

I've done some work for a few filmmakers in Canada and would love to try and network with people here who may need some custom music for their work. I hope it may lead to some paid gigs down the road, but regardless I love creating and helping others make the best of their projects.

Here's some demos of previous work.

Vimeo recently released their Music Store which has royalty-free non-commercial tracks available for free or $1.99. They also have commercial licenses available right there on the store for $98.

Even if you forget about the low cost, the ease of buying a commercial license for a song is terrific!

Post Re: Where to get great Royalty Free Music?
Hello

I am new to the Timelaps thing, but I am not to the music thing.

One thing that has made me want to start on timelaps is because I have assisted on projects with a few people over the last few years in film and I have begun to start a new site that offers music and SFX/Recordings for just a few dollars. :

http://www.freelancesoundlabs.com

At the moment, content is a little thin as I have a little baby boy (and 3 YO girl) requiring a lot of attention and I am awaiting to change the digital download section of the site so it's instant, not delayed. The site is in a setup/test mode but is online and fully functional. Each track once purchased can be used by the purchaser royalty free.

I am also working on new compositions, ambient and piano/string based tracks which will be available once the site is overhauled but feel free to check it out at the moment

Ran across an interesting music site, Smart Sound - http://www.smartsound.com/

You can select a base track then change it up by length, arrangement and instrumentation. Unlimited Royalty free for USA and Canada through PRO, European rights vary by the album/artist. Rates vary by volume and artist.

Different types of licensing available, though quite a few Creative Commons pieces by independent musicians.

Thought I'd copy my post from the other music thread into this one.

Divinitii wrote:
The Newgrounds Audio Portal is a hub for sharing music people have created, and has pretty much everything you could think of. Most of it is available under some sort of Creative Commons licensing, as that's part of the 'spirit' of Newgrounds.

You can't search by instruments per se, but you can search genres and try instrument names in the title.

This is old topic but still relevant, so I'll add my 2 cents.

There is a new player with nice price structure and over 9,000 royalty free music and audio collected during 5 months that makes this marketplace very promising. Give it a try:
