Post Sudden strange problem with Nikon DSLR and Pclix. Anyone?
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I've been using my Nikon D80 with a Pclix Intervalometer for years with great success. All of the sudden the pclix remote commands stopped working with the camera, both the manual fire command as well as the interval fire command. In my messing around I figured out that if the display was activated on the D80 (menu, pic review) then the camera would receive the trigger fire command from the Pclix. If the display is not activated then the camera appears to ignore the Pclix fire command. As a workaround I set my display to pull up after each shot and stay for 20 seconds...but this is a drain on the battery.

The fact that the pclix triggers the d80 when the display is on makes me think this is some strange d80 software or settings issue. I reset the D80 settings via the menu and I upgraded the firmware to the latest version but I am still having this issue. Am I missing something simple here? Any ideas on what might be happening and what I can do about it?

Thanks y'all!
