There is no bad first timelapse. The moon moving across the sky and the sunrise was interesting. Since nobody is paying you to shoot anything specific, try to think of stuff that happens real slow and see what it looks like speeded up. Thats how I got started. Timelapse let me see the invisible.

There were things I knew happened, but never saw because it was so slow. Timelapse raises the movement above the threshold needed to see the change as continuous motion. A lot of people start with the classics; Flowers opening, ice melting, candles burning down, traffic, clouds. It gets interesting when you start finding things around you that you want to see happening. Growing plants are amazing. I never get enough of that. Different plants do very different things. They don't just sit there and grow.

What can you find that looks cool when speeded up?
