Hi I'm new to timepalse and am having trouble finding the right software, can you help guide me in the right direction?

actually typing in 'software' to the search is too vague for the search engine - kinda like the question. So what are you looking for software for: to put time lapse stills together? software for controlling a DIY slider? software for de-flickering? software for controlling your camera via a laptop? software for denoising astro photography? Software for what? There are a lot different threads about software.

Tim's questions are important - what do you want the software for? There are tons of functions that (may) require software, from running motion control through to editing.

If for editing, then you should start at least with Adobe Lightroom and LRTimelapse to allow you to edit all your photos well.
