Post "Remnants" HD trailer
Hello All,

Here's the latest trailer for my REMNANTS project.

I can't seem to see it nice and smooth here, but wonder if it's my ancient laptop. Hope you can, and please let me know how you see it, would you? I seem to have endless trouble getting anything to play properly on-line!

Higher res trailers are available to download from:
http://www.grantwakefield.com/projects_remnants.htm

I'm hoping this will be the first ever UK produced IMAX Digital film.

Enjoy!
Grant

Hi Grant.

Your video is set to be Private. Make sure the Privacy settings are set to be "Anyone" for who can see it.

Vimeo video is private, as mentioned. I couldn't get version one of the high res trailer to play smoothly - it was choppy. I'm on an 8 core Mac. The bigger, low res version of trailer two played quite nicely.

Very nice work!

Doh!

Okay....let's try that again...

I've now embedded the link for the higher res version, re-posted here, and hidden the other version at Vimeo....I did uploads of two versions....must have been a fit of pique on my part...

When I watched them both back via this site, they jittered all over the show. But when I watched them at Vimeo they were fine...except they were only fine sometimes. Without any frame of reference it's maddening to not know what's happening elsewhere.

Tom kindly published his settings for the export of "Mountain Light." I followed them to the absolute letter. Mine came out looking like I'd taken a cheese grater to the file, and his looked like IMAX!

Right...the HD one: http://www.vimeo.com/10189019 - plays fine in lo-res for me at Vimeo, but horrible in HD, and won't play properly in either via this forum!

In a word: aaarrrgghhh!!!

I have GOT to get a techie in to sort out this post-production horror show once and for all....

Thanks a million for your feedback,
Grant.

I can confirm you the problem with the HD version.
Above that, you should know that your timelapses are stunning!

Imagine this in IMAX with 4K resolution ... wow, it's gonna be a big show!

Is it gonna have some voices or text to explain the subject of the rise and fall of megalithic civilization?

Some great images there, Grant. Nice work.

Right around 0:29 or so, it really looks like a clock. Is there some astronomical significance to the structures? If so, capturing and explaining that (visually and/or verbally) could really add yet another layer of appreciation.

Lovely work, now I have some welcome inspiration. I am heading that way at the end of April (Callanish).

Last time I was there I took a few hundred images, this time I will be looking at few thousand for Time-lapse sequences.

Hey guys,

Thanks very much for technical and aesthetic feedback. I'll get these damned on-line things to play properly one day.

It's very gratifying indeed that you caught the clock/astonomical suggestion just from the trailer. Yes, this will be a very strong theme in the film. But no, no narration or text. Just images and music....pure QATSI style, but like QATSI it has a point and isn't just a 'coffee table' film.

The 'sister' project ANCIENT SKIES (for FullDome if it ever pans out) will be much more traditional, with narration, interviews, real-time footage etc

And Mike A....end April is the perfect time to be at Callanish. You still have long-ish nights, weather is fairly good, and the midges and tourists haven't arrived yet! Enjoy!

Cheers,
Grant
