Post Image sequence numbering
I have a little dilemma. 1/2 way through my latest sequence the numbering hit 9999 and then started over at 0001. I guess I could use Bridge to "rename" the files and export them to another drive? Any other suggestions?

Is there a reason you do not want to renumber them?

Try 1-4a-Rename v1.56.0 Super Batch Renamer at http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Fil ... name.shtml

Split the sequence into 2 groups and rename the 0001 etc. group by adding a 1 in front of the 000s

Then join both groups into one and rename normally to get a 0001 to 0123 etc normal sequence.

I like the batch renaming function of IrfanView.

I just use the Automator on my MAC:

I just add step to sort the files by date and time taken before having it rename the files.
Once you save the automation it is saved for anytime you need it.

(on a Mac)
I use A Better Finder Rename: http://www.publicspace.net/ABetterFinderRename/
It can rename files using data in their EXIF. Most DSLRs keep their shutter count in the EXIF. So I rename my photos to their shutter count. That (should) give me a unique (chronologic) number for every photo! I also made it automatically pad the number with zero's to make sure they all have the same length.

Bridge is what I use. It's quick, it's easy, only takes a few clicks.

Name Mangler works well for this (Apple Mac Only)

It allows renaming across folders (such as created by GoPro) and renaming based on capture time. I had around 40,000 ghoPro images across multiple folders (999 in each) and Name Mangler renamed them sequentially in less than a 30 seconds.
