Post Linux software for timelapse
Hi all,

I'm new here and I'm experimenting with timelapse photography. The photography part is not a problem, I use a CHDK enhanced Canon camera.

However, I'm running a Linux machine (Ubuntu), and there doesn't seem to be much software for doing timelapse movies in Linux. I'm currently using dvd-slideshow to make the pictures into a movie, but it's command line and not very versatile.

Are any of you using Linux for timelapse creation, and/or have any suggestions? I'm also very interested in possible deflicker software/plugins which are Linux compatible.

Thanks,
Tijd.

ImageMagick also works. Just use the command line tool convert:
Code:
convert *.jpg YourFilm.mpg
. There are lots of settings, but I do not have much experience with them...

Thanks for helping. I've tried out avidemux, and it worked great, it even has some deflicker plugins.. However, when I try to open a directory with more then a few hundred pictures (5000 - 10000), it fails and only gives errors and shuts down... I can't copy the errors, so can't show them here...

Thanks also for the other suggestion, but I'd like something with a GUI.

Any other suggestions or help would be welcome!

Stopmotion seems to have the same problem as avidemux (just less options). Runs fine with a few pictures, but when adding a few thousand pictures, it crashes, or just shows black video. In total I need to process a video from about 200.000 pictures, so I can't cut it up in little 10 sec video's...

what is your RAM capacity ?
Are you sure you've got enough drive space for Linux to swap ie. /swap size partition ?
