| Post subject: | Can AE or PS Remove Planes from Night Shot? |
I like this shot I got last week in the mountains, but all those damn airplanes near the end of the clip really ruin it for me.  http://www.timescapes.org/lakestars.mov Is there any way to use AE or PS to remove those planes? I figure about 100-200 frames probably have planes in them. If I have to do it by hand, so be it, but any technical tips would be much appreciated! |

Well, there is a way that I use to remove dust spots in CS2, but it's not exactly perfect... In your case, since they're streaks across the sky, with stars you want to retain in the background, it may not work at all... 1: start an action record 2: select the area w/ a marquee (rectangular or elliptical) - try to select only as much of the area as you need 3: right click the marquee and select "Make Work Path" 4: Select the healing brush tool 5: size the tool so that it fits roughly the width of your selection, and not much outside of it 6: alt+click a clean source area 7: select the paths pallet 8: right-click the work path and then click 'stroke path' 9: stop recording This works ok w/ a spot in the same place with a reasonably un-complicated region around it. I can't guarantee that it'll do any good for your case though =( !c |

you can use AE to paint single frames from the frame before of after - and you can offset the cloned frame so that it lines up better with the frame - I took a screen shot of my suggested paint settings. of course you may need to offset the cloned frame differently for different airplanes. I have used this method successfully to pain out many bugs on my plant shots. timt
