Post bramper
was looking to get a little bramper and realized that they are no longer available.

is there anything else out there that will do the same thing (i have canon cameras)? are they available anywhere else?

and last question.. if its not going to be produced anymore will the designs become open source? seems like a great loss to the community to just have it go away.

thanks

Take a look through this thread, several other new options are available and listed.

Thats not really true, if you follow the thread that Jack Ripper just listed, several people including myself list some options that are out there or coming out on the market. Granite Bay software is probably the best option for bulb ramping, you just need to bring a laptop with you into the field and it intergrates with the MX2.

Post Re: bramper
i read through that thread again and didn't find any viable solution. i am not sure if i am missing something?

a laptop is not a viable solution for me. it adds an unnecessary amount of complexity and power requirements that i am not willing to risk a shot on. + it would require about 1000$ (software($300), mx2 ($225), laptop ($500), and batteries ($75)) in gear and weigh at very minimum 40lbs to what i already need to carry. even then that solution is not as good as a little bramper.

as far as i can tell there is nothing as simple (i dont want all the extra complexity and features of the other products that are not even available yet) as inexpensive, as small and most importantly, do as good a job as the little bramper at any cost or size. i cant stand flicker or visible adjustments in the exposure in a final render. every product that i have seen has not been able get rid of these things, and all the products that use a light meter will always have flicker and incorrect assumptions made by the software if there is a meter.

I just hope that it becomes open source or available again.. a paypal donate button and open source hardware can be a powerful thing. :D

Post Re: bramper
From the way I read the post , he just went on vacation / holiday - what ever .
I emailed him , " Put me on list of wanting one - If I don't find a used one , I'll pay with paypal . " If I do find one on ebay and like it I will order a new one anyway .
his email is ---- littlebramper@gmail.com ---
The link to page saying sold out
http://www.thewhippersnapper.com/Little ... Order.html
If he gets enough orders , he may come back early and at least maybe say he quit .
Hell , I spend more at RED lobster [ a seafood restaurant ] than he was charging . So email him ,
I am not saying I have money to throw away , but I have bought to many things that went off market .
An example would be a cane pod . I bought one in late 80's - gave away in early 90's . Now I have bad knees since about 2000 and needed one . 3 years ago I found one on ebay , ordered it , liked it and ordered another one .
This will be the same , if I get one and like it , I will order another one .

http://www.timelapseplus.com/ looks like it might be a good solution. They say they will start shipping around June 15, 2012

I'd check out the Promote. I know they're working on some new additions to their bulb ramping which should be very nice for those used to the BRamper.
It's not open-source, but it should be a viable alternative.
