I have to say I am pretty impressed for 34 bucks off eBay... the model number they use is mc-36b

Works perfect on the 5D, can set it to -- for unlimited shots... and the best part for me is that the connection is locking, like the canon.









Only downside is it does not shut off.. but I'm not going to fuss over that.

The Canon version doesn't shut off either.

I've got one of these on order for my Nikon. I somehow managed to lose my pclix recently.

What's the consensus about battery life on these AAA intervalometers?

I thought I read here before that the watch battery style intervalometers lasted significantly longer. I have both and my AAA style one is in use on a long duration (over 6 months now) time lapse. I thought I read the AAA only lasts 3 months versus the watch battery one years. Ever since reading that I've been changing the batteries every 2 months.

I'm just checking to see if I was wrong.

I've had the button cell in my original Canon intervalometer for at least two years and it's still going strong I do have a spare cell in the bag but it just gathers dust lol

It is really good to see the proper locking connector fitted the lead, normally they are just a push fit and tend to work free

For me in the cold temps, I was only getting about 2-3 months out of NiMH AAA rechargeables.
Disposable lithium AAA I got a lot more.

The canon button cell version, one went after 2 years, the other has been going for over 3 now.

Where can I get one of these for my 5DMk2? Are they only offered sporadically on eBay? And what other alternatives are there to the $200 Canon model? I'm running into a brick wall trying to actually locate one of these to purchase....

I'm not sure it is the right place to ask this, but I try, as this is the best forum for timelapse that I would like to do. I just received the yongnuo mc 36r intervalometer, similar to the one in the first post, but it is wireless, and unfortunately not working in wireless mode. Both unit (timer and the receiver) works in wired mode, but with the receiver connected to the camera (30D), and firing the timer unit makes no effect. Manual doesn't say anything about wireless mode. Did anyone have similar problem? The little buttons on the back are in the same position, I assume these are responsible for channel switching, but I can't find a description about these.

The INTVL mode is what I need.
Basically, I want to take continous shots indefinitely, with exposure set to 50 seconds.

SO if I put camera in bulb mode, and then set the exposure time to "50 seconds", number of shots to -- and interval to zero, it will keep shooting continuously?

Hi. I'm looking for an intervalometer as well and I have not tried time lapse yet. I read somewhere that some cheap timers will not let you set a shutter speed of less than a second. How about this timer? Can you set the camera in manual mode with an exposure eg. 1/125 sec. F4 and let the timer fire this exposure every xx sec?

Just to update, its works exactly as expected.

You can do
1. Camera chooses exposure, you just choose interval and number of shots - Make sure you choose an interval greater than expected longest exposure time
2. Camera is in bulb, intervalometer chooses everything.
