Ah I see some folks are making the transition.
Ive heard that the new Panasonic GH3 has an electronic shutter. I don't know for sure if they've completely changed the shutter system of the first G series cameras in which they incorporated two shutters into the camera design. I do get the impression that they have - in which case there's no physical shutter to wear out.
Edit: Ive just read an article about the GH3. It seems that it has both an electronic and a mechanical shutter. Perhaps you've got a choice as to which to use. Sort of like the Speed Graphic large format cameras used by press photographers back in the 1930s. With the Speed Graphics, you could choose to use the camera's own focal plane shutter or the leaf shutter in the lens.
