So this is where all the stonework ends up

Looks like a neat, portable achievement especially for a stepper driven system John. Is the zoom driven by a worm arrangement, motor is at right angles to lens?
Hi Mike, I wish mine ended up in there but my stone carving is not quite up to that standard. Working on it though
I'm using spur gears at the moment but have thought about worm gears for finer control. It seems to work with just spurs but I have to ensure a good mesh. Not stalled yet but have not tried it with my better lenses at this point (they will need more torque).
By the way, I bought an old Tamron SP 70-219mm f/3.5-4 model 52A the other day for the job but i've not fitted yet. Bit worried about the weight. Might need to modify the tilt to cope with the increased load.
More test footage today ... Must render at some point. System works well (takes about 5mins to set up) but I am thinking of clip mounting the controller on the pan tilt head itself I.e. much like a surveying head. There are too many wires at the moment and there is no reason why the controller needs to be separate.
Hey ho .... It will be finished one day
