MPEG Streamclip - interlaced vs progressive
For anyone who's familiar with MPEG Streamclip, you'll know that there are certain options with checkboxes which should be either ticked or unticked that are related to progressive and interlaced videos. Basically the options are 'Interlaced Scaling' and 'Reinterlaced Chroma'. This is pretty straight forward if you're just reducing the file size of a progressive or interlaced video. These two checkboxes would be ticked in the case of an interlaced video and unticked if it was a progressive video. Though what about when you're converting an interlaced video to progressive? In my case, I want to convert a 1920 x 1080i video to a 1280 x 720p video within MPEG Streamclip. I assume I would leave those particular checkboxes unticked?

Sorry no great revelation to your problem. Is there anyway you could just do some tests ? What software are you using for editing etc ?

Re: MPEG Streamclip - interlaced vs progressive
Ive found the answer. I do indeed leave those two boxes unchecked but I also have to make sure that the "Deinterlace Video" box is checked. The resulting conversion looks fine.
