Post Different speeds
I see a lot of timelapse videos that using different playback speeds. Can someone briefly explain to me how this is done? It is done by adjusting the interval or in the post by by adjusting the playback speed?

Hi,

You probably need to elaborate a little more. Do you mean the actual playback speed of the final video eg 24fps or do mean slowing a video down in a editing package to make it appear slower even thought he playback rate is 24 fps ?

Cheers,

Steve

Sorry if I was not clear.

Take a look at this time lapse: https://vimeo.com/174547721

In a lot of scenes they are speeding up and slowing down. This make it very dynamic.

OK, so it's done in post processing. But when it's done bij interval ramping, does it give the same result? I think interval ramping wil give a steadier result, but is this true?

I don't understand why you would want to do it in camera.
If you do it that way you can't change it afterwards. Good luck trying to make it fit your music.

I'd be doing it in post but if your controller can do it for you then do it while shooting. I do this sort of ramping in post and even with Sony Vegas it does a reasonably job of it.

If smoothness is your concern then shoot twice as many frames - shorter intervals.
