Here's where to get free music
Here are some of my favorites. Check the Individual Creative Commons License for permitted use. http://www.jamendo.com/en/This is a great place. They have a huge amount of music available in different genres and it is all nicely tagged to help you search. http://music.podshow.com/This is another one of the best, easy to navigate and a wide range available. http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/A site of CC Music provided by Kevin MacLeod. That guy must be busy!! http://www.musopen.com/A large collection of Free Domain Classical Music http://opsound.org/A site offered by several groups of musicians. http://ccmixter.org/Remixes and sampling http://www.dmusic.com/One of the first CC Sites http://www.dmusic.com/They tend to be new artists but you can certainly find some excellent music. http://www.dance-industries.com/An interesting site which often has something different. Cheers, Harold

Yeah, I had forgotten about the Moby thing. They've got some pretty tight restrictions on the type of work it can be used for, and you have to request an individual track, state the reason for usage, and then wait a bit for it to get approved, then they mail you a link.
In my case, it took about 2 weeks to hear back from them, although they did grant me usage of the track.

I've used this company. They have a wide variety, which sometimes means a bit of searching, but reasonably good search tools, great customer support and prices: http://www.stockmusic.com/

Re: Here's where to get free music
I'm a Vancouver based music producer. I absolutely LOVE the timelapse you folks are working on. How about this. I recently produced an artist called 'Opus Zero'. The album is definitely on the psychedelic side, and I think it would go great with some of the visuals you folks are doing. I will grant permission to anyone doing a time lapse, to any of the music from this artist, for free. I can give you the mastered audio files in 16 bit or 24 bit audiophile at no charge. In return, I'd like permission to use some of the stuff you folks are creating with it. You can listen to the album here to determine if it's appropriate for your visuals. If you like it, just email me at peter@opuszero.cawww.opuszero.caCheers - Peter

Re: Here's where to get free music
The Newgrounds Audio Portal is a hub for sharing music people have created, and has pretty much everything you could think of. Most of it is available under some sort of Creative Commons licensing, as that's part of the 'spirit' of Newgrounds. You can't search by instruments per se, but you can search genres and try instrument names in the title.
