Post Timelapse with real-time compositing

I have an idea for a project I am working on. I want to be able to shoot a timelapse action scene, and then composite a person in to the scene who is in real time. I want the two shots to match so that it looks like the real-time person is in a fast-paced environment.

The only way I can think to do this is to shoot the timelapse separately and then greenscreen + composite the real-time shot (while trying to match the light, etc from the timelapse.)

If anyone else has done this, please give me some advice.

I have a Canon 5D Mark II, and a Canon HVX-200 if that helps with any advice with framerates or use of an intervalometer, etc.

It depends on how much interaction you need between the two shots.
Basically the easiest way is green screen though.
You could also do it with the 5D2 locked off to shoot the time-lapse then shoot real time video with the same setup and do a split screen effect. Easy to do with After Effects.

When you shoot your green screen foreground with talent, make sure you use the same lens and settings with the same camera set up( lens height, tilt angle, etc.) to keep a correct perspective when you go to shoot your background timelapse. (unless you want weird perspectives of course)

Regarding intervals, if you shoot your timelapse background at say 1 frame per second then your onscreen B/G action will be x 30 realtime. (25 for PAL shooters)
